Program Overview

The Saudi British Fellowship Program (SBFP)  aims to empower and enhance the Not-for-Profit (NFP) sector in Saudi Arabia. This initiative results from KSA’s National Vision 2030, which sets ambitious goals for increasing the number of NFP entities and their contribution to the GDP.

The ultimate goal of the SBFP is to ensure that NFP leaders across the Kingdom are empowered to lead evidence-based change and develop their organisations and the sector, to this end a bespoke program drawing on both international and regional expertise was designed.

The programme defined five outcome-driven golden threads (GT) to support and enable NFP leaders. The first GT designed to create social impact by addressing critical social issues and improving the well-being of communities. The remaining GTs focused on developing  selfless leaders who foster collaboration and partnerships among various stakeholders, address evolving social needs through innovation and adaptability, and maintain high trust and accountability by operating transparently and using funds and resources efficiently and effectively. These golden threads were essential to the learning acquired from the programme and its application within the sector.

Impact

The design of the program incorporating the GTs and addressing the key competencies aligned with the Applied Executive Leadership Challenge  (AELC) will ensure that the program graduates can impact their organisations at all levels and in doing so contribute to KSA’s Vision 2030 plans to achieve a sustainable NFP sector in the country.

The individual AELCs were designed to have meaningful impact while remaining flexible enough to accommodate participants' schedules. The challenges required participants to engage with their organisation in setting and framing their challenge, then creating and submitting a challenge framework and finally a presentation of emerging findings and future plans through a report and an elevator pitch type presentation.

The commitment of the program fellows to this challenge was exceptional, the average mark being 78% with five scoring in excess of 85%.

All AELCs are being carried forward into the individual fellows organisations ensuring genuine impact.

Despite overall programme feedback being universally positive (90%+), a feedback session with program fellows has been held to capture delivery and content feedback to be considered for the next program delivery.

Graduating fellows will identify colleagues to attend the next cohort and will act as mentors for these individuals. This mentorship model will be carried forward into future cohorts ensuring that all organisations benefitting from the program have a number of key employers equipped wit the knowledge and skills to carry learning into practice.

From the outset the program sponsor committed to 3 cohorts;  to ensure there is sustainability within each  organisation taking part. Three subsequent years of individuals embarking on a similar learning experience, initiating and delivering an AELC will ensure that each organisation experiences real change and meaningful impact.
